COVID Sign and Old Courthouse
The old courthouse in Dahlonega was built in 1836, nearly 15 years before the city of Atlanta was formed. Dahlonega, Georgia was the home of the first gold rush in the United States and the courthouse contains the Gold Museum.
The sign in the foreground cautions people to mask up and keep a social distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In 1836, there were other diseases to be concerned about, but no one wore a mask unless they were outlaws.
